Results of BASEF 2005
On Saturday, April 2, 2005, over $175,000 in cash, prizes and scholarships was awarded to student participants in the 45th Annual Bay Area Science and Engineering Fair at The Sheridan College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning in Oakville, Ontario. Almost 350 students from grades 7 – OAC in Hamilton, Halton, Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk spent months preparing 220 science and engineering projects. After a day or judging on Thursday and a morning of public viewing to a large and inquisitive crowd on Saturday morning, 278 awards were presented to 167 participants. Students with the top twenty four projects were awarded all-expense-paid trip awards to compete at either the Canada Wide Science Fair in Vancouver (May 15-22) or the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Pheonix (May 8-14). We congratulate all of our participants for their hard work and enthusiasm; judges, guests and organizers were all very impressed with the array of remarkable projects.
