Activity Day Field Trip/Event Descriptions

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL ACTIVITIES HAVE A MINIMUM ENROLEMENT AS WELL AS A MAXIMUM. ACTIVITIES THAT ARE UNDER SUBSCRIBED WILL BE CANCELLED.

Activity "A"

Young Eagles Wanna' fly like an eagle?

This tour includes short aerial tours via small, privately owned, certified, general aviation aircraft flown by the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association (COPA), the local chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association. All participants will have their names added to the "World's Largest Log Book"

YOU MUST HAVE YOUR PARENT SIGN A "YOUNG EAGLE REGISTRATION RELEASE FORM" WHEN YOU SIGN IN FOR THE FAIR ON WEDNESDAY APRIL 5 AT MOHAWK COLLEGE.

This activity will depend on good weather.

Popsicle Stick Bridge Building Competition

Try to build the most efficient bridge out of Popsicle sticks and glue. You build it and we'll test it to destruction to see who rules the world of structures.

A Day in the Life of the Hamilton Spectator

Stop the presses! Ever wonder just how much talent and skill it takes to turn out Hamilton's daily newspaper? On this tour of the Spectator facilities, you'll talk to the Editor-in Chief, the Advertising Department, the reporters and the photographers to find out just what it takes!

Swim and Gym

Join us at the Hamilton East Kiwanis Boys' and Girls' Club for a morning of fun. Students participating will have an opportunity to use the pool, gymnasium, computer and games room. Don't forget your bathing suit and towel!

Activity "E"

The Royal Botanical Gardens

Start out at the Nature Interpretative Centre where you will become familiar with the "Project Paradise" wetland restoration project. Then head out on the Cootes Paradise Trails to enjoy an overview of the project. Stops will include a reconstructed amphibian habitat and a cormorant-nesting colony. Be prepared for cold weather or light rain!

Behind the Scenes at Copp's Coliseum & Hamilton Place

Take this opportunity to see these facilities like no one else does…….behind the scenes! Get down to ice level and see what it takes to prepare Copp's for each of the different events. See the Hamilton Bulldogs on their game day skate. The tour of Hamilton place is subject to their schedule, which at this time has not been confirmed.

GO WILD on the Dundas Valley Trails

After a brief orientation you'll hike the trails of this Hamilton Region Conservation Authority paradise in search of rocks formations, fossils, animal clues and much more. They provide the Expedition Bag…. you provide the questions! Be prepared for cold weather or light rain.

Theare Aquarius

Take this fascinating behind the scenes tour at Theatre Aquarius. A stage set for a current run play will be in place and a Theatre Director will show and tell what it takes to make a production run.
